Cattleya jenmanii is very similar to C. labiata and if it were not for the geographical separation, it would be impossible to have them as separate species. Actually, in my opinion, C. labiata is derived from C. jenmanii. In ancient ages they most likely had a continuous population. But, for some reason, orchidists have been working hard on improving C. labiata and, apparently, only now they begin to pay a little more attention to C. jenmanii. My plants are from a recent sow, an attempt to improve the variety coerulea, which is very beautiful and fragrant in this species.
The second photo shows the lip details of two different clones.
