This orchid is the main reason behind why I joined this board.
Some of you might remember my first thread here, detailing my whole ordeal.
http://www.orchidboard.com/community...questions.html

It's my second orchid, and I've had it for three years now.
However, a year or so ago, it slowly began to develop the brown spots that I was so concerned about.
And so began my epic adventure into the world of Orchid Culture!

I frantically joined and posted in every large Orchid board I could find. The spots really took off when I posted on here, and I was close to throwing the whole thing away, being afraid it was going to infest the rest of my collection.

In any case, in true hardy orchid fashion, the plant starts to spike.
I had put it in a secluded corner and didn't even get around to remembering to fertilize it until the spike was halfway grown!

It's been chucking roots out like crazy, and this is my reward four months later.
The flowers are much more saturated than when it was in bloom when I got it- yay!

I've since learned from some breeders that these fungal spots are just something that this species does, and not something to really worry about.

Kudos for reading my essay. Enjoy!

For comparison, this is what the blooms looked like when I got it 3 years ago:

And today:

A picture of the plant, and the infamous spots:

Thanks for looking, and bearing with such a long post!
It's been a very touching rebloom.

Wow, what a difference in colour. It looks great now I love the darker red.

Great news that it's blooming well for you after all the worry. Glad you kept it.

Thanks everyone!

I'll be posting new pictures when it's in full bloom.
I could be wrong, but it looks like I might get 25 flowers when they're all open.

And there's another lead that might spike in a month or so as well.

Yay! I do love the Epis! I have an Epi. Hokulea in bloom right now. I wish they didn't grow so tall...but I like them anyway.
