Default Are DARK shoots a problem?

Hi everyone,
I noticed lately that on mostly my epicatts, brassavola and catts that the new shoots are almost black. Is this normal? They are in different locations, and not in direct sun. One of them started out black and then switched to dark green once it got going. Another one is not doing much and has 3 on one plant, but they also look a tiny bit shriveled.

Any input would be appreciated.
Helen
