Talking Cattleya Shenandoah

This beautiful Catt was slowly languishing in the Botanic Gardens.

Since hubby took over as the Orchid caregiver, it has bounced back in a major way. It still has a long way to go but we plan to exhibit it in next year's show.

We were planning on showing it this year, but the BG folks got so excited about the beautiful fragrant blooms, that they cut some to put at the front desk.

Anyway, we are fighting a couple of wayward slugs which we will definitely get as soon as it is done blooming and repotted.

We counted 31 blooms. Too bad the slugs got to a few of them. Anyway, this is the first Catt we have bloomed. Of course it helps that they have a really pro-set up and great light.

If only mine at home would follow their example.

Most of us would say that this plant is badly in need of re-potting but it is obviously not. It seems to me that they are at their best when they look like this plant. Look at all of those buds. Wonderful job.
