Default Laelia praestans

Laelia praestans is the less known pumila's cousin, but it is as small as the latter, has the same large flowers compared to the plant, but with one advantage: the flowering p-bulbs give two flowers instead of one as in L. pumila.

Very good looking flower Mauro. Is this another species from Brazil? How is its habitat holding up?

Beautiful blooms, Mauro. And now I will need to get one to keep my pumila, jongheana and sincorana company. Does praestens have any scent?

No good news, Steve. Laelia praestans is known to only occur in the vicinity of Santa Leopoldina town, in the State of Espirito Santo, Brazil. Since the forest cover in this State has been devastated the last reports (2007) put this species in a critical danger of disparition.

It's a gorgeous one. Wonderful colour. I like the way the lip forms a complete tube like that.

Yes, little and cute.

Try to focus on the lip also, Mauro. In those 2 pics I can see very clearly the petals and sepals. The lip is also interesting to catch.
