Quick question regarding time to bloom - Orchid Board

Just wondering if any Cattleya experts could tell me what the timeframe is on a new pseudobulb breaking out to a bud to a bloom. (if conditions were right, of course). i.e. how many weeks/months for the new leave/pseudobulb to form/mature, then bud stage to bloom.

I've seen with some of my catts less then 4 months and some at 1 year. As you can see the time frame is wide open

Yes, I guess it is, depending on species, etc. and living conditions...thanks for your reply. My Red Crab is shooting out a new leaf, so I was just wondering how long I have to wait...As you probably know by now, I lost two new buds (bud blast) in March when I brought it home.

Aw sorry to hear Helen, will listen my Chantilly lace did this over and over - And finally close to a year later she did award me with some blooms. I hope you don't have to wait that long

Have you been able figured out WHY she is blasting?

Oh, I'm sure only a one time occurence...I bought it in March at an orchid show. The vendor potted the bare root he got from Florida. I then took it home in cool, windy weather. So, I'm sure it was mostly due to change of environment, temp. etc. After the bud blast, I repotted it and now have new roots shooting out as well as this new leave sprouting....I'm being optimistic!

This is a great question. I have two Lc.'s that have been growing leaves since last year, and no blooms. Last year's growths are mature, no sheaths or buds in sight. Now they have new growths coming in. Does this mean I should forget about flowers from last year's growth?

I think a half year is all yours will need since it is a smaller sized cattleya, but it can take longer or shorter depending on your growing conditions as well.
