Reed Stem Epi. Question - Newb Here

Hey guys I'm new to OB and to Epi's. Just wondereing, after a stalk is done blooming where do you cut it back? I was reading and what I found said to cut back to the base of stalk. Are they talking the very base of the stalk, like down by the roots OR the base of the stalk like where the last leaf (highest one up the stalk) is? I guess I'm not understanding what they consider the base. I consider the whole thing the stalk and the base down by the roots.

Hope my question makes sense to all of you....sorry if it is a dumb one but I had to ask.

You can cut the "spike" - the Inflorescence, not the cane

yes, just cut off the flowering part of the stalk, as periodically it will send out new inflorescenses or keikis from the nodes below the old inflorescence....
