Blc. Pamela Finney 'Victory'
After she bloomed last January, she put out two new growths in rapid succession. After the first one flowered this January, the second one opened last week! How can you not LOVE such a willing, not to mention beautiful, orchid!

That's a beautiful bloom, Kim--and on an apparently vigorous plant too! How's the scent? Is this a standard-sized cattleya hybrid, or is it compact?

Steve, it's a standard size, but doesn't get too big. Mine is about 15 inches tall. The flowers are huge, mine measures six and a half inches across, but they can get bigger. I've never noticed any scent.

Let it sit with it's flowers in direct sun and see if that helps. I find the plants in the GH don't really start stinkin pretty until the sun starts hitting them at around 10am

what a beauty! i wish more people would not be afraid to try a standard cattleya, they are sooo rewarding! even tho the bloom is generally once a year, they are just stupendous! good growing!

And the thing is you can have a standard cattleya species in bloom all the time if you just collect them all..maybe mix in a few hybrids or laelias and such.... I'm terribly old fashioned in my orchid tastes. Like me those standard species and older hybrids.

Yes, you are right. If you have enough you can have blooms all year long. This one is a beauty. Thanks for sharing.
