No, it is not rare. I couldn't get near to even breath on a rare orchid if I tried
My Laelia Amoena came from the Santa Barbara Orchid Estate where they have MANY beautiful orchids. Probably more then I have ever seen in my life.
My Laelia's including that one like it on the warm side. Enjoy living in rocks and never need to be repotted. (if in rocks)
Over at SBOE they grow most of their plants outside which is one of the really nice things about being in California.

I don't think their shopping cart system for online orders works yet, but they will take orders over the phone.
As far as venders goes, they are Top Notch. I wouldn't buy a Laelia from anyone else in the world.
