I have not seen the red form either and it is very nice. I have the yellow form 'Romeo' that is in bud now. A few days ago I was going to support the stem because it was leaning a lot. I broke it half into and it oozed sap. I carefully wrapped it with floral tape and I strongly believe that it healed because the buds are a quarter larger. If it makes it, I will post a picture.

Great red flower.
Jerry I hope yours makes it to flower... I've not seen the yellow either so it would be good to see both.

Rosie, the buds are starting to open. I hope the damaged stem is capable of supporting the flowers. I have had breakage on Phal spikes and after the same first aid they went right on flowering without any interruption. The difference with the Phals though was that they were badly bent but not broken.

Here is the yellow form. It is the plant that I provided some first aid after breaking the stem.

Notice the two little dents in the petals. I often wondered why or how this happened and now, from experience, I know. I kept watching these buds because I was sure they were going to blast after damage to the stem. The dents in the petals came from one of the petals becoming overlapped over the other when they are maturing.
