Default Large Flowered Cattleya

This is Blc. Norman's Bay 'Lowe' FCC/AOS. It usually blooms with two 6 1/2" flowers per pseudobulb but this bulb only produced one flower that is 8".

This is a classic, Jerry!!! Very nice!! Blc. Norman's Bay 'Low' was first awarded an AM by the AOS in 1959 and then an FCC in 1976! It has been used directly as a parent in more than 300 different hybrids, one of them the celebrated red Blc. Oconee, a cross with the yellow Slc. Belle of Celle!!
Nice to see that you have it in good shape!!

Rosim, I have had this plant since 1995 and it has been divided and shared numerous times. I recently had three plants and gave two to the local orchid society. I now wish that I had kept a spare just in case something happened to this plant. The heavy texture of this flower is unlike any other that I have ever seen.
