Default C walkeriana 'Sakura Snowball' x 'Perfect Blush'

These are 2 more recent blooms of C walkeriana.

Both crosses have 'Sakura Snowball' (5", 13 cm, semi-alba flowers) as a parent. It has been an exceptional parent.

One cross is 'Sakura Snowball' x fma flamea 'Divina'. The offspring are excellent with good variety because one parent is a pink with dark red "flames."

The 2nd cross is 'Sakura Snowball' x 'Perfect Blush'. The cross has produced many outstanding offspring.

Hi Harry,

I don't think I've ever noticed coloring on a column before.

Both flowers are outstanding but I like the one with the color the most. Congratulations!

Carl

Very nice catwalker! I'm surprised at how round your 'Sakura Snowball' x fma flamea 'Divina' is. Mine has very pointed (almost star like) petals.

Thank you for your comments.

Zoi2. Yes they have a wonderful light fragrance. I especially appreciate the fragrance when I go to a spring show and open a carton of them in my hotel room. In the enclosed space, the light fragrance is especially refreshing and pleasant.

Carl. While not common, pink columns do occur, more often on blushed flowers, but sometimes on semi-albas. Less common is a flower with pink side-lobes. Flowers with all white petals, pink side-lobes & a pink lip are especially beautiful because of the contrasts.

Isurus. Sakura Snowball exerts a great influence in rounding the offspring, especially since Divina is small and star-shaped. Divina provides nice color & often a "flame" at the tips of petals. But this flower is not the roundest of the cross. There are a few rare offspring which are almost perfectly round , like Perfect Blush.

This roundness in offspring is especially difficult when using only walkeriana parentage. I do not use Pendentive as a breeding parent. Many, if not most, contemporary walkeriana breeders and serious walkeriana hobbyists do not consider it to be a true walkeriana. There has been major controversy about the matter for years.

When Pendentive is used as a parent, many people refer to the offspring as a "Pendentive type" walkeriana.
