This is the first time I've had a couple minutes to catch up. I have a Maikai that I bought in 2007 and it never had a fragrance. It started blooming for me in Nov and has given me 26 spikes Yikes!! It blooms for me 2x a year. Now and again in April. You would think that since it has nodosa in it there would be some fragrance...oh well I'll just have to live with the 160+ blooms and no smell

Awww, that's really too bad. I remember your gorgeous display photos. Have you tried checking throughout the night...like 1:00 a.m., 2:00 a.m. etc. (yes, I'll be the first to admit I'm crazy) I began picking up her scent after midnight but during the day there's absolutely nuttin'.

No way I'm getting out of my comfy bed to see if my Maikai smells. I just checked before I made my post and still nothing. If there is fragrance the other chids can enjoy it!! I'm getting my beauty rest I'll have to get some new pictures into my gallery.

This is one of my all time favorites, probably because...1) it hasn't died on me, 2)it gets bigger and better each blooming season and 3)again..it hasn't died on me yet (I lost a lot this past summer.)
Mine was a Better-Gro bagged plant, in a 4 inch pot that I bought a few years ago. I had 10 spikes on it this past month and just upped the pot for the 3rd time to 10 inches.

I've noticed that the blooms put out their fragrance well into the night, usually around 9:00 is when they begin smelling their prettiest.

Hope you're enjoying yours. It's lovely!

Here's mine from this past blooming (before I repotted it).

Your plant is so pretty. These plants look so lush when mature and in bloom.

You mentioned losses. What happened?
