What are the distinguishing differences between this variety (venosa) vs. striata and flammea? I have trouble telling them apart. (See my thread Perplexing Purpuratas)
Searching in the Lou Menezes' book (Laelia purpurata - The Queen), I could not see any marked difference in the descriptions.
I'll ask Mauro Rosim about the differences!
Mauro Rosim aswered your question: in the "striata", the striations are just on the surface of the petals, like drawings in the paper; in the "venosa", the striations are 'inside' the petals, like blood vessels. Usually you can see the striations through the back of the petal only in the "venosa"
Horst,
Tudo bem? This one and my other "good" purpurata came from BV Orchids; I'll need to look in the tags the n° of the crosses
