Cattleya warneri

This is a plant I've been growing to specimen size. As is known, C. warneri is one of the larger flowered Cattleyas (really large flowers can reach 22-23 cm from petal tip to petal tip!). Now you can figure out the fragrance that comes from this pot...!!!
The third photo shows the double sheath in warneri. Two things must be said, first double sheath is not exclusively found in C. labiata, second it's common to say that the inner sheath in warneri is always very small but this is just a guide and cannot be taken as true all the times as this plant clearly shows.

That is an excellent cultivar! I would grow it to specimen size too!!

thanks Mauro... by the way right know I have a warneri coerulea originaly sold by Francisco Miranda to Graf almost in bloom without double sheath, but this could vary year to year so maybe next year it would have the double one.

By the way, do you know if your warnerii with large sheath is from Bahia, Minas gerais, espiritu Santo or Rio de Janeiro????... the strange thing for me is that its look-like more south than north phenotype warneri...
