Default I NEED to rant!!! (Bc Maikai)

I CAN'T BELIEVE IT! We've been having severely windy weather here in S. Fla. There's a tropical storm in the Caribbean and we're getting these fierce winds. All of my orchids are tied down with bungee cords, especially the ones on the top shelves.

I was just on OB and had signed off when all of a sudden, I heard this loud crash. Walking to the patio, I kept saying, "please don't let it be my Maikai....please." Yup, my prize Bc. Maikai with 10 spikes growing (one bloomed, one opening, so far) just crashed to the floor. One leaf broke, another completely broken off and the 2nd spike that was opening .... GONE.

I am soooooooooooo pissed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And yes, it could've been worse, I know. At least I had another larger pot to place it in. I was going to re pot it when it got done blooming, into a larger pot and I'm still going to wait until it's done blooming before I start disturbing it more. So now, it's 9 spikes, not that terrible, right?

If someone had told me that I had to leave all my orchids behind and could only take one, it would have been the Maikai.

Murphy's Law?

I thought of that, Michael. In the world of art design, it's said that balance is achieved when your display is an odd count, not even, so I guess everything is balanced now.

The winds have been amazing!
I moved all the vandas into the room yesterday, they were flying horizontally on their hooks! Ruh-roh!

Sorry your baby lost a spike...but at least we're not preparing for the storm to hit us directly

I feel your pain. When I was in Arkansas seveal years ago with the sudden bursts from many many sever thunderstorms we had I spent many a day searching the 1/4 acre yard afterwards finding a pot here and several plants over there out in there pots. After a while if I ever thought there were going to be strong winds they went into the house with or without bugs.
