I'm with you on the day length duration being the target and already have begun to change that. I know I mentioned it was taking 14 hrs of day light, once I counted it was more like 16 hrs per day under lights. And now its under about 10hrs during the day under T-8 lighting since I'm seeing 4 new growths -- The southwest window doesn't have that much to offer for a catt as far as light goes this time of year. 7 to 5pm for the day light, then back to the window it goes with a slight cool down of 68 degrees. I hope a
2 month time frame will inspire some blossoms down the road.
While I think its a great idea to downsize any orchid and still get those beautiful blooms, but with this catt I really don't mind at all. Yes its big but the growth is very nice and upright - not sprawling all over the place like many other catts I've had - 2 feet to the right 3 feet to the left then 3 feet in height, blahhh not my kind of orchid, some have very wonky growth with no discipline at all.
I have a feeling this catt will be with me for many many years to come - I just hope it blooms one day!
Thanks again to you and John for pointing me in the right direction - keep ya's posted
