I just purchased a healthy looking cattleya in a bag, you know the ones that have the pot all fish-netted up and doped in a bag with the tag stapled to the top from Lowes.
My immediate reaction was to open it up and re-pot it, then i thought that maybe i should just open it up and watter it until a later point in time. either way i got it home about 10 minutes ago and now its sitting on my plant table so any info would be greatly appreciated
ThanX as always
I buy those frequently. I always repot when I bring them home so I can check the roots and overall health of the plant. I also keep it separated from the rest of my plants for about a month....just in case it has a problem I may have missed.

If you manage to nab a healthy one, these can actually be great cheap starter plants. I got one that bloomed impressively less than a year after I bought it. Agreed with the above, though: best to repot it right away to make sure it doesn't have any "passengers," and trim off all the dead roots. Post pics when it blooms!
