My mantiqueirae has also been very easy. I have had it for four years in peat moss and it has grown constantly all the time but I could not lure it to flower until I tested "dry period" for a while this winter and voilą: buds emerging straight away!

The matter was no instructions mentioned anything about dry period but a definitive COLD period during which the plant rests. So until now I have served only coldness, no dryness and as it seems, dryness is in fact the trigger to initiate flowers.
