This is an old clone that I've been growing for more than 20 years, still one of the good light colored warneri. The plant is genetically unstable as to the purple mark in the lip. Actually, four configurations are produced from year to year or sometimes on the same spike, like in this year's flowers: three small purple marks forming a perfect triangle in the lip; two purple marks (one mark missing at left or at right); only one small purple mark in the centre of the lip; and finally, no purple mark (perfect concolor). This last configuration is more rarely seen.
The first three photos show three different flowers on the same spike this year. The other two photos show past flowers to illustrate the lip behavior.
