Although I have grown a few of the smaller Mexican laelia species for a while now, I've recently acquired two species that I have no firsthand experience with: L. anceps and L. gouldiana. Can someone tell me when these two species normally send out new roots? Are they produced after or before the newest growth blooms? Do the newest growths mature at the same time new roots are forming, or are the roots produced, like some of the bifoliate cattleyas (C. amethystoglossa, for example), only after the newest growth has completely (or near completely) matured? Thank you!
my gouldiana puts out new roots in the spring time when it starts new pseudobulb growth and from what i remember, roots and bulb growth at the same time
i vaguely remember my anceps doing the same thing,
so you can keep them on the dryer side until you see new growth in spring
i have another question about those two that i will ask in a new post
both tolerated a lot of direct sun in the summer with some misting daily

For me, they both put on roots as each new growth is about half mature. L. gouldiana seems to start it's burst of roots just a little sooner (on a less mature p-bulb) compared to L. anceps. Maybe it's my imagination. For the most part they are really similar, but the gouldiana makes for a tighter clump and looks a bit more upright and tidy while L. anceps is a bit of a creeper.
