Mauricio. Nice bloom.

I haven't seen one of these in many years. We were the first to mericlone and release this clone about 25 years ago. We don't even have the original plant anymore. There were 2 clones that we released back then ... 'Blanche' and 'Patricia'. They were siblings, however they differed in their plant habit, their color and even their blooming time.

'Patricia' is a smaller plant with concolor dark orange. As I recall, 'Blanche' is quite a bit taller and as your photo shows, it is a red-orange color. 'Patricia' always bloomed in late February to mid early March, about a month earlier than 'Blanche'. Since your 'Blanche' is blooming now, I guess that blooming schedule still holds true ... for the southern hemisphere.

Nice bloom. Good to see it again.

Here's a photo of 'Patricia' for comparison.

Thanks for the nice photos Mauricio and Catwalker. I also appreciated the history.

My neighbor's plant reblooms remarkably every Spring in an East window in spite of gross neglect. I will have to get one.
