Cattleya warneri
This is a seedling flowering for the first time. It was originally a cross between an alba and a caerulea, an attempt to produce better formed caeruleas that didn't work, returning to the type. Beautiful type anyway!

A selfing would be very interesting. I wonder if any of the recessive colors would come back out.

fantastic color..just amazing!! Rosim, I m new but I already found your photos on flickr: they are amazing!
Anyway can you tell us some of conditions you have to make this specie blooms?
I got it too (they were 2 in a 12cm pot more then 10 pseudobulb so I separated them so now I got 2 plants). They produce easly lot of roots and new growths but no sheet and no flowers..I really don't know why..

It is not uncommon that in Cattleyas recessive genes come out again from selfing plants like these, Chris. At least with bifoliate Cattleyas I know a few examples where the caeruleas appeared again in the F2.

Welcome to OB, Tyme2shine! From what you say, you seem not to have trouble with roots, so I assume your plant has a good development and is adult. Most of times then, the trouble is light. This is a plant that grows in bright places in nature and needs to be in bright places in our growing areas too. Mine are grown hanging, more or less 1 meter from the shade cloth (50%) cover.

Great information Mauro. Thank you.
It would take much patience to establish a new alba or caerulea breeding line using this technique!
