Default Cattleya maxima 'Longhin'

Good flower for the species, especially the flat petals and the intensely striped lip. Cattleya maxima has the petals folding back as a rule and clones like this are uncommon. The photo is a little washed, the actual color being a little darker than what appears. Mr. Longhin is an old friend, now in his eighties, my orchid father and mentor, who has been teaching me the orchid secrets since I first met him, more than 26 years ago!

Very nice. The flat flower makes it quite different from other clones of this species.
