Let's see, Steve, whether the purple tips repeat in the next years or not! If they are a stable genetic character I believe it is a good clone for shows!

I agree with Steve's comment regarding the purple tips. They're extremely attractive and will hopefully be something that your plant produces consistently, Mauro. Can you please provide a picture of the whole plant? Thank you.

Steve

Yes, Steve, the plant went to a show this past weekend and is returning today. I'm taking a picture of the entire plant as soon as possible.

Rosim. VERY nice flowers. Like everyone else, I also hope that the color pattern reappears in the future. The markings appear to be on the tips of only the sepals, in the front only, however, one of the petals (lower left in the second photo also has a little blush on the back.

I notice that your flowers are very white, which is somewhat unusual. I am wondering if you are blooming them in 10-15 degree day temperatures (lower at night) and somewhat low light. Your greenhouse light looks a little low and you have some large trees surrounding them and by my estimate you are in early spring right now.

In my experience, by the time our amethystoglossas bloom, our temp is much higher than yours and the light fairly bright, so we normally have more background coloration than yours. Sometimes, when we have cooler more overcast weather, our flowers bloom with a very light almost white background, then color up more as light and temp increases. The spots are always there, but sometimes "bleed" as the background color increases.

Do you think that maybe your very white flower color and contrasting sepal tip patterns are influenced by your temp and light conditions? Even if they are, I think that if you replicate the temp and light conditions you have this year, you should be able to have the same kind of blooms in the future.
