That is beautiful. I just got one of these a few months ago. It was in bud when I got it and all of them opened shortly thereafter. Only one of the blooms had this coloration though - the rest stayed a light greenish. Do you know if it's something to do with the conditions? I kept expecting them to turn dark, but after a couple of months, the blooms were done and I finally cut the spikes. Only that one ever developed the maroon tips.

My guess would be not enough light for the plant when you got it back home. High light equals darker flowers. This species also really likes high light levels for it to do well.
