Default root and flower formation in cattleyas

hey, could any of you explain the way catts roots form? i mean, some do before flowering, others after and so on.

after this iīd like some advice on this:

i have a cattleya since february 2009, it has had a big bulb (a bit bigger than the last that it had had), it developed a seath a month ago but itīs still empty. now that bulb is starting the formation of roots (just one or two, i can hardly see them, they are like spots) and it has also have a new "thing" (idk how you call them itīs the new sprout but very little), which has also grew a bit this week.
do you think itīll bloom or noT? or when the new growth developes they will both bloom at the same time?

thanks for answers!!

Some cattleyas make a sheath at that time of the year and will only bloom next spring : cattleya skinneri for instance...It all depends on what kind of catt you do have ;-)
