Default Cattleya intermedia f. caeruleo-aquini

Despite the nice visual, I believe they went too far with this variety because several clones I have seen present a degree of degeneration in the column tip and side lobes of the lip. They say that it took six or seven generations of selective inter/backcrossings to transfer the blue color from the lip to the petal tips.

It looks nice. I would tend to agree from your description that it sounds like they went a bit far though.
