In another thread I discovered that peeweelovesbooks wasn't quite sold on Encyclias!? Figured I'd share some of my photos to try and sway her opinion of Encyclias. This might be a moot point though because I think I read somewhere that she recently purchased her first Encyclia?

I grow all these Encyclias outdoors year around here in Southern California...but a few of the photos, as noted, are of plants at the LA Arboretum. Not all of them are strictly Encyclias anymore...close enough though.

If anybody else has some photos that would help convert peeweelovesbooks into an Encyclia fanatic feel free to add them to this thread!

Encyclia adenocaula 09-08-04 022

Encyclia adenocaula from Mexico

Encyclia tampensis 09-08-04 036

Encyclia tampensis from Florida. Recently mounted on my Cedar tree. Good outdoor grower here in Southern California

Encyclia NOID 09-07-14 111

I have a few guesses what this might be but would be interested in hearing other people's opinions.

Encyclia hanburyi 09-07-14 077

Encyclia hanburyi from Mexico. It's attaching itself quite nicely to the tree.

Euchile mariae 09-07-14 129

Euchile mariae from Mexico.

Encyclia NOID 09-07-14 123

I have a few guesses what this might be but would be interested in hearing other people's opinions. It's a vigorous outdoor grower.

Euchile citrina 09-06-18 053

Euchile citrina from Mexico. Good outdoor grower.

Encyclia prismatocarpa 09-06-18 066

Photo taken at the LA Arboretum. This one has more spots than the other.

Encyclia cordigera 09-06-18 085

Photo taken at the LA Arboretum. It would be great to see some orchids mounted on trees at the LA Arboretum.

Encyclia cordigera var rosea 09-06-18 071

Photo taken at the LA Arboretum. It would be great to see some orchids mounted on trees at the LA Arboretum.

Epiphyte,

You are eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeevil!! They are all gorgeous, of course, but I most especially love the citrinia and the adenocaula!! These are gorgeous!!

Is there a specific vendor from whom you purchase these?

peeweelovesbooks, LOL, I think that means my tricky plan worked!

I've picked up several of them from SBOE and Andy's...but most through Craigslist via RSS.
