I haven't heard of this one but I love that colour, amazing!

Orchidwiz lists it as C. Malini (C. Lalitha x C. Tetsuro Obara)

Which is interesting, must be part of the new naming regime.

Hi,
Thanks for the post,Orchidwiz is wrong about the listing
it should list the hybrid as SC Malini, because I am the hybridiser
and registeree of the hybrid.

but according to th enew nomenclature conventions accepted by RHS, Sophronitis is also cattleya, and then the correct hybrid name would be: C. Malini...

Hi,
I would post the copy of the letter from R.H.S for the sake of all who are concerned about the name.

Veekay, it's nothing personal... The issue is that the RHS accepted the new nomenclature propossed for cattleyas and Co., based on the work from Van den Berg & al. (2009) regarding the phylogeny of Laeliinae... And therefore, for RHS the genus Sophronitis and all south american Laelias are now Cattleya. If you check in the RHS website, you will find that they have it registered as Cattleya Malini by P. setty (2008) <-- I assume this is you

Note that the acceptance of the new nomenclature by RHS is very new (2009) and since the hybrid was registered in 2008, it was not yet valid and therefore in your document it is stated Sc. Malini.
