Bc. Pastoral 'Perfection'
This is perhaps one of the best hybrids created by Rolf Altenburg (founder of Florália nursery). At the time he made it, in the beginnings of the 60's, the parents’ choice was a master's move. The potential of selected clones of this cross as parents for good hybrids has been neglected over the decades and only in recent years it has been used to produce new hybrids. Some clones have been awarded, like 'Innocence' AM/AOS and 'Rosee' also AM/AOS, but it seems too little for such a cross. Maybe some more will come as the hybrid becomes more spread.
The plant in the photo has a collection of good qualities like good count, large size (17-18 cm), heavy substance, very well positioned segments contributing for an excellent general form, good white color, citric perfume inherited from Rhyncholaelia digbyana which is in the ancestry. It grows well and vigorously. Maybe the major problem with it for our days is the plant size. But, it's worth having it, despite that.

Mauro, this is fantastic. I got surprised today when I realized you are from Brazil. That's why you have such a collection and can show those stupendous plants almost everyday. Congrats!!
I have a speciment of Bc. Pastoral Innocence, it is quite astonishing especially at the end of winter here in Miami.

I totally agree Mauro. I have grown var 'Innocence' AM/AOS for over 20 years. We shouldn't forget that a number of these (such as 'Rosee' AM/AOS) were light to medium shell pink.
