Maybe Laelia praestans is not so well-known as its close relative, Laelia pumila, but it is as beautiful as the latter. A number of varieties like alba, concolor, caerulea and semi-alba are known. The flower in the photo has good petals for the species.

Yes, Suzie, I grow these two the same way. BTW, one of the differences between pumila and praestans is the number of crests in the lip: three in the first and 5-6 in the latter.
