Very dark Cattleya maxima
This is blooming out for the first time. It is just one flower because the plant is still pre-adult and I was not expecting it to flower now, but what a good surprise!!!
One of the good things when you buy seedlings is that from time to time things like these appear right there, on your bench! This is a very dark flower for this species. The petals stand up and relatively flat, which also is not much common as far as maxima is concerned!

I really love the colour of that one. The white heighlight and pattening on the lip are just perfect

Yes, you have been lucky to have that magnificient Maxima. Potential for an award is right on the corner. Congratulations Mauro!!!
My Maxima is far less desirable because it belongs to the low land section, it puts quite a show every year due to its floriferous behavior, but nothing like yours that I guess comes from the high altitude.

Yes, RGonzales, this is from the highlands. But lowland ones have their unique beauty, especially in the lip in my opinion. As to the form, some lowland clones are as good as this dark, like 'DZR' ( Cattleya maxima 'DZR')
