Very dark Cattleya maxima

This is blooming out for the first time. It is just one flower because the plant is still pre-adult and I was not expecting it to flower now, but what a good surprise!!!
One of the good things when you buy seedlings is that from time to time things like these appear right there, on your bench! This is a very dark flower for this species. The petals stand up and relatively flat, which also is not much common as far as maxima is concerned!
