Default Rhyncholaelia glauca

Beautiful species, so many times used as a parent because of the large heart-shaped lip. I don't know if it the case elsewhere, but here in my region this is a very slow grower orchid.

This species is great! What does it smell like? Digbyana? Mine is a small seedling, so I have many years to wait until it gives a show.

Nice shape on your plant, full wide lip. B glauca is a much smaller plant than digbyana. It's not so slow if it's very bright and warm. Plants can bloom from when they are only about 4-5" tall.

Probably digbyana is more favored as a parent because of the very large and frilled lip and larger flower. Both species have the drawback of low flower count

Steve, sorry, I'm not good in describing fragrances.

Interesting... mine two are grown in very bright light and high in the grh where the air is hotter and still they are slow growers... Several friends report the same difficulty. We maybe are doing something wrong. Thanks!

Mauro, I doubt you are doing anything wrong! Thanks for sharing the great photo. I need to get my hands on a good clone.

Go for it, Roya! It is such a great flower with that heart-shaped lip!

R. glauca is a slow grower.
It takes several years for the seedlings to bloom and some plants are notorious for their poor flowering ability.
