If you think a keiki on a cat is strange. I've seen so many different types of orchids in flasks, sometimes you see strange things. Plants are growing at such an accelerated rate with the nutrients that they do funny things sometimes. I don't mean mutations ... just temporary growth disruptions. The developing plant tissue in various parts of the plant get a little confused.
For example, I've seen 1-1/2" den seedlings in flask ... juvenile green leaves with distinctly lavender partial flowers growing from the tips of the leaves. When grown out, the plants and blooms were completely normal.
This phenomenon is different from some miniature species which are small enough to mature and sometimes bloom normal flowers in flask ... Psygmorchis pussilus, Aerangis luteo alba, Ceratocentron fesselii ... very cute.
