gorgeous flowers... the bright colours indeed resemble the pictoresque town of "El Hatillo" in Venezuela

That cross has been made by the very well known orchid grower Enrique Graf here in Venezuela and the cattleya mossiae used as a pollen plant was a semi alba type. Only three good plants were obtained from that cross and they were called at the beggining La Nina, La Pinta y La Santa Maria as analogs of for the three vessels used by the Venetian Christophorous Colombus during the discovery of the Americas in 1492. The story of the cross is a little bit longer but this one is a short cut.

Interesting story Bruno. We have a division of 'Pinta' (I guess it should be 'La Pinta') from 20-25 years ago. I didn't know there were only 3 clones from this very nice cross. I know Enrique, but never knew that he made the hybrid.
