I have this orchid and I'm trying to find out where I can locate a care sheet. Specifically, I want to cut it back as the older canes are all wrinkled and I believe will not produce again. I do have one new shoot with healthy roots growing off one of the older canes but do I need to keep the other five (5) canes that have already produced? I can really use some of you with knowledge about cutting back on this plant. Could you direct me to a site that would give me this info or just relate your knowledge to me and I will be forever grateful.

I'm afraid I don't think we have a care sheet here on OB.

My understanding is that old canes should be left as they provide water storage for the plant as a whole.

I may be wrong though so maybe someone else can chime in.

Hi Faz. Any Cattleya care sheet will give you good basic advice. Rosie is right about the old canes, or bulbs. Keep as many as you can. I try to keep five, but never less than three.
