This is a favorite species of mine and I noticed yesterday that Ive got buds that will probably pop next week! Yours is awesome! Congrats. Don't forget to smell it a few hours after dark. You will be amazed!

Good growing, Becky. Andy nice to see that you too are growing it successfully in a pot. I've got two of them in pots, and although neither has flowered yet, they're growing well. I was terrified of trying them in pots, since everything I'd read (and been told) said that the quickest way to kill this species is by trying to get it to grow in a pot. So far, my two plants have been doing wonderfully. Those flowers on your plant are incredible. Congratulations.

Steve

These are definite favorite of mine. I found one, small, back in the early '80s in a Thrift shop/Plumbing shop window. There were other orchids that I got free with this one...several kids and grandkids later it is still flowering...lots of growths. I am sure at that time it was probably a wild collected plant. I have often looked at the named Varieties and wonder which one would be the best cultivar to grow?

Cool flowers. Can I ask how you keep the humidity at 60% in Chicago? I'm also in Chicago and grow in a south facing hot window, but keeping humidity high is difficult for me. It's usually around 28-30%. Thanks
