Epi. Illense Hybrid.... unhappy
Default Epi. Illense Hybrid.... unhappy

Hello,

I've had an epi illenese hybrid for about 6 months. its not grown at all since I've had it and now has dark brown edges on some of the leaves. I repotted it and found some root rot. but there are still some nice looking roots.Today I notied the top left is not almost dead. I spray it with water about every other morning. and it gets alot of sun. what am I doing wrong??? For some reason I feel like this shouldn't be that hard to grow!

Thank you for any ideas!

Hi bellina,

I don't know about Epis but could you post some pics as that might help people to see what is going on.

May I ask where you got it? I love illense, and have been searching for it, and it's hybrids.

Don't know where you live, but ilense itself is not difficult to grow ... under phal conditions. Some people think it looks like a reed stem epi and try to grow it likewise and end up burning the plants. Plants are long and slender with only a few canes. They only need a relatively small loose root ball. Well drained, but thorough watering is important.

First shade down the plant, protect the roots and save the plant. Never ming vigorous growth for now. Dead plants don't grow very fast anyway.
