Beautiful! I have one, also from Lowes in Louisiana. I've been patiently nursing it for almost 2 years. Thanks for sharing...hopefully, mine will bloom in the near future. BTW, what does the "Bc." stand for?

Hmmm. I was wondering why this mini or near mini had so many slender and SP2340 also mentioned lots of canes in short time.

Parents are Bc Maikai x C walkeriana. So there's a (fall blooming C. bowringiana x variable B nodosa = fall blooming Bc Maikai) x C walkeriana (winter to spring bloomer).
C. bowringiana is a large vertical plant with upright spikes bearing many pinks, whites or light violets (depending on variety color). B nodosa has numerous long slender to pencil growths with terminal sprays of star-shaped lime greens, with wide white lips. C walkeriana is a near mini with fat canes, which put out blooms on a spike that emerge from the base of last mature cane.

So now you've got a cute mini or near mini which blooms 3 flowers from cane terminals ... which seems to include something from each ancestor. This hybrid went in the right direction.

We often joke about a hybrid with diverse parents going in the opposite direction ... resulting in a VERY LARGE plant with MANY canes and only ONE or TWO SMALL flowers on top. OUCH!

Bc. stands for Brassocattleya - a hybrid between a Brassavola and a Cattleya.

FYI - I may be wrong, but I believe this grex is actually Marmaid (with an "a").

I used to have problems with these abreviations but someone here on OB (I think it was Camille) pointed me to this webpage which really helps look up any abreviation you don't know.

I never gave it much thought but that's probably the reason for it being Little Marmaid rather than Mermaid

It does make it a little more difficult to find info on the internet
