C. forbesii "Olga" ??? Is it really a forbesii? Male
Default C. forbesii "Olga" ??? Is it really a forbesii?

I got this from a friend with the Miramar Orchid Society. She had it for many years when she gave me a division. She said it was C. forbesii "Olga" and a very old clone. The only forbesiis I'm familiar are the tan type. I'm thinking its a natural hybrid with forbesii in the background. Has anyone heard of this clone before?

Any thoughts?

That looks amazing! Are you sure its forbesii and not a hybrid? Either way, I would be glad to have that little guy for sure!

The growth habit is the same as forbesii and it bloomed with my other forbs, but the open lip is what makes me suspect that its not pure forbesii.

Thumbs up

Your suspicion is right, Jcaesar. Besides the open lip, the excessive and heavy striation in the throat, the large mid-lobe of the lip and the color bordering the side lobes leave no doubt it is a hybrid involving forbesii for sure, but still a hybrid.
As for the color, there are golden yellow, ocher, tan, pink, green forbesiis!
