Default Encyclia "Green Hornet"

Hi all, I was given two of these a few months ago and deceided to mount one in my Oak tree. The mounted one has flowered for me. Its about 8ft. up in the tree and needed a ladder to take the picture and my cat Chase just had to see what I was doing. It totally reminds me of the strand.

Looks like it's happy, Dave. Does sort of look "strandzy".

Dave

Thanks for posting this interesting mount. How long has it been on the tree?

I would guess around 4-5 months. The roots are getting well attached but the plant is still a bit heavy to remove the wire. I see the parent plant "E. cochleata" in the strand frequently.

Hi Dave,
This is very cool to see.

Speaking of the strand, how has it done with that fire blazing across SR 29 from it? I'm hoping that the spot fires were not too big.

I was there on Last Saturday and I didn't see any fires but I know they were fighting them more on the north end of 29. We went to it by way of 41 and a deputy said we could go to the strand but not any further. I will be there on Sunday, I'll let you know.

Although the fire has been very devastating, I'm glad to hear it is out of the strand. thanks for the update...and I look forward to hearing more after Sunday.

Just to satisfy my curiosity, and for those of us who don't live in Florida, what is the strand??
