Default Cattleya schilleriana

Here are a couple of photos of my C. schilleriana.

This is the first time it has bloomed. It is mounted on a slab of cork. I thought that the lip was pretty cool, so the second pic is a close-up.

Enjoy!

Ohhh, that lip is cool! It's a pretty cool plant too, I guess there goes another one for the wish list.

Looks great! Does this one throw the spike as the new leaves are opening, like aclandiae? Or does it do the whole sheath thing like most Catts?

David, is this in the shade house? I don't recall seeing this. I think I would have noticed a mini like this? Fantastic plant and flower.

Hi Steve...this guy did the whole sheath thing...umm...sounds like we should start a new dance craze or something...we can call it The Sheath...and we can write a song called "Doin' the Sheath Thing". ...just consider the source...

Ross, this guy was hanging under one of the vandas out by the pool, which is why you don't remember seeing it. The plant is small, as you've noticed, but the bloom is close to 4 inches across! It just started opening Friday. Thanks!

Great job David!

May I know the leafspan of your schilleriana?

I got one, mounted on cork, but I'm afraid it's a couple of years from blooming size...

Thanks
