Nice one Sue. I killed the one I got from Rob . I guess it didn't like me ripping it out of its treefern mount, and putting it in a really dry spot in my viv.

Sue,
Out of curiosity, how are you growing yours? Mine is the Cuban variety which likes to be damp at almost all times, and no drying out...

It's out in the bright side of the pool cage and gets heavily misted (soaked) at least once a day

So cute, Sue! I had this one, but it was just too dry in my sunroom for it

I have some more, not all of them are entirely happy right now (it is winter and lots of things are sulking).
Harry, the one you got from me has Dinema in parenthesis... That is because I tend to be conservative in renaming. I've known it as Encyclia polybulbon for so long it is hard for me to accept the new name, and usually when i get around to doing that it just gets changed back... *grin*

I know this is a really really old thread, but what is the best type of mount to grow these on, tree fern or cork? Orchid Wiz did say it was possible to pot them in medium bark but I am pretty iffy on that, however I really don't need another mounted plant to water daily, but if mounted is how it will thrive best then that is what I will do!

I'm curious about this little 'chid, too. I'd love to hear a little more feedback about best methods to grow it, too. I see on IOPSE that the icons say it likes shade, but Jay's text says it likes a lot of light. :-O
IOSPE also says it's fragrant...what's been your experience with that?
Also, how long do the flowers last?
It's a real cutie. But, I have very limited space, so I try to get as much info as I can before I add a plant to the family.
Thanks for any info on this, folks.
:-)
