Lc Purpurato-rex coerulea
This one have a nice color, but not a cool shape. Purpurato-rex is the result of the backcross of Lc Canhamiana with L purpurata

The latest catalog from Alvim Seidel, Orquidario Catarinense arrived in today's mail. I see that the Laelia purpurata prices are now down to $200 and less, formerly up to $US3000 for the same cultivar!
I may stimulate the Brasilian economy, soon!

Perhaps I don't have an eye trained to assess shape, but personally, I LOVE IT! If one were professionally judging, what would be the faults of the flower shape? I'm just curious, and always looking for new ways to better appreciate orchids!  |

It's hard to describe, but the sepals have the edges folded backwards, mainly in the proximal portion. This is characteristic of purpurata, but the plant will losing points in judgements.
