Sometimes the purple coloration on the lip of some Cattleya species turns into a color very similar to the amethyst stone, Suzie. These varieties are called amethystina.
Some collectors say the amethyst coloration is sort of blue and they most likely are right. Petals and sepals in these amethystinas are normaly white, but sometimes can appear with the same color of the lip, but in a very, very light tint.
