It's just beautiful Sue! And thank you for the very entertaining and humorous thread! I can totally picture the whole thing and I'm laughing so hard I have tears in my eyes!
Wow Susanne, it's wonderful. I am amazed though at it blooming now because I am so accustomed to mine blooming in the fall. My plant rests all winter and it is just now waking up.

My other Chocolate Drop blooms in the fall also. I don't know why this one is in bloom right now but I'll take it
Thanks for sharing your Chocolate Drop photos with us. I gave up on getting one a long time ago because of space limitations when I saw a large specimen plant.
I just realized that I had one all along when I found a water color one of my daughters did for a birthday present more than a dozen years ago. I thought you might find it interesting that this is the one she chose browsing the internet for photos.
Hi Sue! I'm so glad I found your post. I have a Chocolate drop V.Q. that i bought last June at Lowes and it's done nothing since then. It in a southish facing window with all my other chids. It's not dying but it's not prospering either. What is your secret? It's at about 50ish percent humidity on a humidity tray with a humidifier going. Like I said earlier it's in a southish facing window where it gets more afternoon sun then morning. I have my drumbeat heritage catt in the same spot and it's thriving. So I'm not quite sure about this little guy. He's in a 3in pot in large bark. I fertilize at 150ppm MSU on a weekly basis (usually Sunday) and it gets a water bath on Wednesdays. I spritz the roots if they look dry. Do you have any pointers for me?
Hi Katie, what you've described is just about what mine gets The only difference is that mine gets some pretty intense afternoon sun and the room is possibly a little more humid but I think what you're doing sounds just right
Was it in bloom when you bought it?
If yes, then maybe try increasing the light a bit.
If not, then it may just be a younger plant and she's not ready yet.
Nope it wasn't in bloom when I got it. It was a bagged baby from Lowes. I could try upping it's light. Maybe I'll move it up a few plant slots and see if that works? If not maybe it's just too young?
This is the name on the tag from Lowes:
