We all have our certain plant(s) that do well for us no matter how we treat them.... I know you have yours and you've been kind enough to share your beautiful pictures with us.... so, just keep posting and we can all enjoy.

PS: Trust me, I've had seveal this season that either didn't spike or got crown rot or for whatever reason aren't doing so well...but those are the ones, like photos that aren't your best efforts, never get seen.

Gorgeous Ethan! I'm especially a fan of orange. Those oranges and yellows are just such warm and inviting colors.

These are gorgeous. Especially the orange/yellow one. Hmmm...I'm not into oranges/yellows, but I'm definitely considering this one. It's stunning!

Your grow area is beautiful too!! I love the wood shelves. Did you make those yourself? I love wood as opposed to metal.. makes things...I dunno, more elegant for some reason. Thank you for sharing.

Ethan

I too enjoy seeing your success. What beautiful blooms.

I think you are making a good point, when we grow under difficult conditions it really helps to try a few of the same type at at a time. After many failures it is wonderful to see that some will have the genetic potential to adapt to our conditions and actually bloom reliably. I did this 3 years ago and now have about a dozen in bloom all Winter. This makes it easier to accept that the other dozen might never bloom for us and may have to be given away.

It seems like the pictures I posted of 'orange bird' showed yellow in them. Just for the record, there is absolutely no yellow in this flower, it's just a really hard one to capture the true color....here is another picture from last year that shows the true color:

Peeweelovesbooks - Thanks for the compliment on my benches. I chose wooden benches because I wanted a more natural look to the greenhouse. Sometimes I wish I had metal benches as they would be more practical and more space efficient. I actually designed them myself, but had my handyman/friend build them for me...he did a great job!

Also, I got the 'orange bird' from a local orchid grower. They are a very small business and don't even have a website. I don't even know if they ship, but here is their info if you want to call them. They are truly the nicest people!

Sun rmN.E. - I agree with everything you said!! I think sometimes I aquire so many orchids so that I'll always have some in bloom! And half the fun is getting those ones that have never bloomed to bloom for us!
