Hmmm, actually, Becky, mine is fragrant -- albeit faintly.
I didn't think mine was going to bloom in Feb this year (though it usually does). Then, after I complained, it decided to make a liar out of me and do so anyway.
Hope you won't mind, Becky, but it seems silly of me to start a brand new thread by this name when you just started one, so I'll tuck mine in with yours.
Btw, for those who are unfamiliar with this old cross, neither Becky's pictures nor mine are truly accurate with regards to color. Digital cameras seem to have a great deal of trouble accurately capturing reds and purples, IME (though perhaps if I had a higher grade camera...?) and to add to the challenge, the flowers have a satiny sheen to them that really messes digitals up. The color is a much richer red with, what I would term, 'firey' highlights in the center.

Those are gorgeous.
I have some hydro kits and I'm nervous about re-potting into them, any advice you have would be appreciated. I have a few Catt. types that need re-potting this spring.

Actually, 'Dark Waters' is the darker, fuller, rounder selection of 'Scheherezade'. Rai's looks like 'Dark Waters' to me.
Thanks Becky and everyone else for showing me your 'Dark Waters' and reminding me why I saved this plant from near death. This was one of the first orchids I ever bought and I did not know how to pick a healthy plant at the time.
Two years since I got it, it has come near death (having no roots), developed one new growth that only reached 2-3 inches tall, grown new roots, and finally the latest new growth is maturing at about 7 inches! This latest growth is also growing another new root aside from the ones that it produced when it was still growing and it has 3 huge eyes that are starting to swell at the base to form new leads!!!
No blooms yet, but maybe by this time next year! And now I can remember what I have to look forward to thanks to all of you!
